Winter Pool Closing Kits Are Now Available For Pickup!

Above Ground Pools can easily be damaged from ice build-up during the winter season. Water must be pumped off the pool cover using a Cover Pump or Siphon as quickly as possible to avoid extra weight on the cover.

Try your best to get the water off the cover before it freezes. We suggest inspecting the pool on a daily/weekly basis over the winter season.

If you notice the cover beginning to sink into the pool from the weight of the ice, we suggest releasing the cover into the pool to avoid damage on the pool frame/wall.

If you detect any leaks before closing the pool for the winter, be sure to find the leak and resolve the leak problem before you close the pool for the season.

Ice that forms inside your pool can easily expand to the point that it starts pushing on the pool walls. This process can wreak havoc on the pool frame, walls, and pool liner.

Placing Air Pillows inside the pool is your best defense against ice damage. The presence of air pillows will prevent the ice from freezing solid across the top of the pool by absorbing the ice expansion.

Water that makes its way into your skimmer over the winter can easily cause the skimmer to crack and break. Placing a Gizzmo inside the skimmer is highly recommended to absorb the ice expansion and keep your skimmer from cracking.

A skimmer plate is needed for the front of the skimmer and a plug for the return line to keep both blocked off from water entering into each unit.

Storing your equipment indoors is a must during the winter season.

We recommended making sure all the water is removed from the pump before storing indoors.

A Filter Cleaner should be used to make sure the filter is clean prior to taking the filter apart and storing indoors for the season.

Do Not use Muratic Acid to clean your DE Filter Grids for winter storing - the acid is too harsh and damages the grids while sitting over the winter.
